QLC Presents “Wake Up to Green” Series


Can anything be done to mitigate Global Warming? Yes
Is the task too big for us? NO

The Hoboken Quality of Life Coalition (QLC) is taking these questions and the answers seriously. It is providing an entire year of talks and information on how to counteract global warming that is already producing worrisome if not hazardous conditions on the earth.

Next in the “ Wake Up to Green” speaker series on Tuesday, February 26 - 7:30 p.m., Stockton College Asst. Professor Patrick Hossay will explain how to calculate a Carbon Footprint and much more.
Location: The Hudson School 6th St and Park Avenue.

 

Starting the last week in September 2007, the following calls to action were presented right here in Hoboken.

Monday, September 24 - 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Sierra Club – Hudson/Meadowlands Group presents the Sierra Club’s "Cool Cities" Program which provides direction to municipalities
on how to be an example to their citizens by reducing their carbon footprint and thus diminishing the impact on global warming.
Location: St. Matthew Trinity Lutheran Parish Hall, 57 Eighth St. (between Washington and Hudson Streets).

Wednesday, September 26 - 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The U.S. Green Buildings Council, past President Steve Leone and former Hoboken resident will explain what a “green building” is and how a builder gets a coveted LEED certification. Especially important for members of the Zoning Board of Adjustment, negotiators of the city’s Redevelopment Zone contracts, developers and citizens who want to see that Hoboken gets best of the “green” revolution. .
Location: Our Lady of Grace School Hall, Willow Avenue at 5th Street.

Thursday, October 25, 7:30 p.m. “Do It Yourself” Greening with Joan Abel. This local architect will discuss how to be green right here in Hoboken.
Location: St. Matthew’s Parish Hall, 57 8th Street
